The Hindi Typing Dashboard is a free, browser-based progress tracker built for anyone learning to type in Hindi or English. Every time you complete a typing practice session, your results are automatically saved and displayed here — no account, no login, and nothing sent to any server. It all stays on your own device.
WPM — Words Per Minute is the standard measure of typing speed. It's calculated by counting your correctly typed characters, dividing by 5 (the industry-standard "word" length), and then dividing by how many minutes you typed. A higher WPM means faster typing. The dashboard always shows your personal best — the highest WPM you've ever achieved in any single session.
Accuracy tells you what percentage of the characters you typed were correct. If you typed 200 characters and 185 were right, your accuracy is 92.5%. Speed without accuracy is counterproductive — most government typing exams require a minimum accuracy of 80–95%. The dashboard tracks your highest accuracy score across all sessions.
Session History shows your last 8 practice sessions with their WPM, accuracy, language, and time. This is where you'll quickly spot patterns — for example, whether your Hindi sessions average higher accuracy than your English sessions, or whether your speed drops in longer timed tests.
Daily Streak counts how many consecutive days you've practiced. Maintaining a streak is one of the most powerful motivators for consistent improvement. Missing a single day resets the counter — which is usually enough to keep people coming back. A 7-day streak means a full week of practice; a 30-day streak means a whole month of daily improvement.
The WPM Progress Chart plots your last 12 sessions on a line graph. A rising curve means your practice is working. A flat line tells you something needs to change in your approach. Most people find the chart unexpectedly motivating — seeing that upward trend makes it much easier to sit down and practice again tomorrow.
Why does progress tracking matter? Research consistently shows that people who measure their performance improve faster than those who don't. When you can see your WPM go from 12 to 18 to 25 over six weeks, the evidence of progress is right there — and evidence of progress creates motivation to continue. Without a dashboard, it's easy to feel like you're "not improving" even when you are, and that feeling is what makes people quit.
Privacy by design: Everything on this dashboard — your scores, history, streak, language preference — is stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage. Nothing is transmitted to any server. There are no cookies set for tracking. You can clear everything at any time using the "Clear History" button above, or through your browser settings.
Most people underestimate how much difference a dashboard makes. Here's why tracking your typing speed and accuracy matters more than you might think.
